This 101 by 76cm oil painting on deep edge canvas is one in my most recent series where I’ve been abstracting the shapes I drew whilst wave watching close to where I live. Watching the waves is a meditative experience for me, its where I can be fully present, noticing my thoughts and feel lighter. Back in my secluded garden studio, I mixed blues with added Cornish yellow ochre pigment and then intuitively applied and removed many layers over many weeks. I hope to convey the contented feeling of being on the shore, where the viewer notices the marks and subtle tones in the painting reminding them of their time in Cornwall.
