This 25x25 cm oil painting is called, ‘Grandmother’s Prayer’, which is a title that came to me as I was painting it which rarely happens. Usually the titles come to be well after completion, after I’ve spent time with them. The saying goes that when you’re born your grandmothers say a prayer for you and those prayers are still protecting you even after they are gone.
The colours were inspired by Cornish lichen and the soft light at dawn.
