'No Notion of Time as Anything but the Comings and Goings of the Tide' Oil and Cornish Earth Pigments on Wood Panel

'No Notion of Time as Anything but the Comings and Goings of the Tide' Oil and Cornish Earth Pigments on Wood Panel

£375.00

This 30 by 40cm oil painting on a deep edge wood panel is from the ‘Between two waves’ series, using lines from TS Eliot’s poem Little Gidding as a starting point.

‘Not known, because not looked for

But heard, half-heard, in the stillness

Between two waves of the sea.’

I intuitively added layers of oil paint over several weeks, allowing the marks to inform the next, arc lines give the uplifting sense of being close to the water’s edge, pieces of crushed yellow ochre, which I collect from a nearby cliff can still be spotted on closer inspection. The pops of bright aqua give a fresh feel to the piece, and would brighten a corner in your home.
